Geography of Romania
Extending inland halfway across the Balkan Peninsula and covering a large elliptical area of 234,499 square kilometers, Romania occupies the greater part of the lower basin of the Danube river system. It lies on either side of the Carpathians - the mountaineous circle.
A long and sometimes harsh winter, hot summers, prolonged autumns but nowadays unnoticeable springs are the seasons characterising this territory.
There are many rivers crossing the country, the major ones being the Mures and the Olt, with beautifull valleys.
The Danube river crosses in the southern part Romania and flows into the Black Sea forming there a beautiful Delta - the Danube Delta.
The Black Sea seaside needs improvements and modernisation but there are a range of resorts from Mamaia to Vama Veche that can satisfy the taste of the clients.
On the other side, Romania's mountains are especially well-known in Europe for their wild life and you can enjoy their wild beauty by only taking a short tour through them.
There is another aspect that is worth speaking about: the sudden differences between the wild country life, of people reminding one of the beginning of the XX century and the modern city life, with newly-built skyscrapers, modern buildings, impressive business and cultural centres.
Romania's varied relief makes it a beautiful country, the mountains, the Sea, the rivers, the plains, the Danube Delta making out of Romania an unforgettable and lovely country.
